Hello and welcome! We are glad you are here.
Over the last few years, we have learned and seen how things like social media and blogs can help encourage people into action. So our hope is that this blog would be a place that brings glory to our Creator and gives people knowledge and courage to get involved in the orphan crisis in the US and/or around the world.
The global orphan crisis is a very complex issue with lots of moving parts. Things such as human trafficking, gender inequality, generational poverty, lack of proper healthcare and education, and judicial injustices are just some of the issues at hand. The first priority in helping with the orphan crisis should always be family reunification and empowerment. Family preservation and orphan prevention go hand in hand. Most children that are labeled “orphans” have some living biological family members and could have a home if the family is cared for properly. This can be done in practical ways such as education, vocational training, helping meet basic needs, healthcare, etc.
If Christians are going to fight for the sanctity of life in the womb, then we must care just as much to fight for and support sanctity of that life outside of the womb.
So how can you help? There are so many ways to get involved in the orphan crisis: foster, adopt, mentor, become a CASA, do respite care, support organizations that are empowering families, the list goes on and on. You can support families that are trying to stay together, adopting, or fostering. There are amazing organizations you can support like Mwana Villages that exists to help vulnerable children and their families. We are all called to care for the poor, orphans, and widows.
We hope that you enjoy following along with our adoption and foster care stories and are encouraged to get involved!
